TOM POOKS
L'ISLE DES FEMMES
Released in 2003, Tom Pooks’ “L’isle des Femmes” EP stands as a refined snapshot of his early artistic vision, blending Deep House elegance with a subtle funky edge. Crafted during a prolific era of his career, the three-track release captures the timeless groove and musical sensitivity that would later define his reputation on the global electronic scene.
The EP features the enduring classic “The Way,” a smooth, hypnotic cut that has gracefully stood the test of time. It’s joined by “Do You Want (Ad Libitum Mix),” injecting playful funk and rhythmic freedom, and “Don’t Worry,” a warm, groove-led track built for late-night dancefloors.
Long before his releases on legendary labels such as Cocoon, Intec, Speicher, Ovum, and Terminal M, and prior to the creation of the Family Piknik festival, L’isle des Femmes showcased Tom Pooks’ instinctive feel for groove, melody, and atmosphere. More than a retrospective release, the EP remains a reminder of the roots of a producer whose sound continues to resonate across generations of dance music lovers.
